Cancer

The Western Zodiac sign of Cancer is nurturing, loyal, and most of all protective. Cancers have a reputation for being moody and insecure, but they are also among the Western Zodiac’s most dependable and caring signs. Emotions run deep for Cancers and they often give so much of themselves to others that there is little love and energy left for themselves. Cancers are self sufficient and self motivated, yet they require regular emotional connections with close friends and family. They consider close friends like family and will always defend anyone they love fiercely.

Some believe that Cancers are overly sensitive, as evidenced by the fact that they are often easily irritated or cranky. Others think that they are too dependent on the love and approval of others. Yet no one can question their dedication to those they love.

Cancer is an unpredictable sign. Many people have a hard time understanding members of this sign because they seem to be a contradiction of personality traits. Cancers are excellent listeners, yet they rarely share their own deepest feelings with others. They want friends and family to trust them completely, yet they have a hard time trusting others. For a highly emotional sign, Cancers feel most comfortable hiding their feelings behind a wall of pleasantry.

Everyone born under the sign of Cancer is also born under one of 12 Eastern Zodiac signs.

Cancer
&
Dog

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Dog are represented in Primal Astrology by the Pit Bull. Pit Bulls are among the most loyal and dependable of all Primal Zodiac signs. They are more likely than other Cancers to honor tradition and follow the rules, but are less likely to feel self confident outside of their comfort zone. These individuals are highly protective of their loved ones and will often sacrifice their own happiness for the happiness of others.

Cancer
&
Dragon

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Dragon are represented in Primal Astrology by the Hornet. Hornets are among the most confident of Cancers, but also among the most entitled. The Dragon brings pride, nobility, and self-respect to the Hornet, which is badly needed for the fragile Cancer, whose selflessness and concern for others balances out the Dragon’s selfish nature. Hornets are potentially very powerful individuals if they can learn to be honest with themselves and keep their emotions in check.

Cancer
&
Horse

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Horse are represented in Primal Astrology by the Hermit Crab. The combination of Cancer and the Horse can be a very good one. The Horse brings much needed honesty and open-mindedness to Cancer, who is able to (eventually) tame the Horse’s wild side and need for independence. Hermit Crabs are known to move from place to place in the animal kingdom, and this is the basis for this comparison with humans born under these signs. As long as they are honest with themselves, Hermit Crabs can create a good life for themselves, though it may take longer for them to settle down than other Cancers.

Cancer
&
Monkey

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Monkey are represented in Primal Astrology by the Emperor Tamarin. Monkey brings Cancer some much needed self-confidence with this combination, though it also brings with it a restless curiosity that can lead to depression from dissatisfaction if not kept in check. These are among the most outgoing of Cancers and the least likely to care what others think, which is not a strong Cancer trait. Emperor Tamarins can be quite popular, though they run the risk of over analyzing the words and actions of others and assuming hidden meanings where none exist.

Cancer
&
Ox

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Ox are represented in Primal Astrology by the Black Bear. The Ox intensifies many of Cancer’s inherent traits, such as perseverance, dependability, and the tendency to spend a lot of time alone. Black Bears invest their time and energy in only a select group of people. They are rocks that others can lean on, but they rarely share their own emotions even when they may be bursting at the seams. Stability and security are very important to Black Bears.

Cancer
&
Pig

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Pig are represented in Primal Astrology by the Lobster. Lobsters are very caring individuals who often sacrifice their happiness for the happiness of others. The Pig enhances Cancer’s sincerity and dependability, but it also brings a naivety to Cancer that can lead to disappointment and heartbreak. On the other hand, the Pig’s influence keeps Lobsters optimistic and patient and help stave off Cancer’s tendency to be self-pitying.

Cancer
&
Rabbit

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Rabbit are represented in Primal Astrology by the Turtle. Turtles tend to lack self-confidence and can become big complainers. They are also among the most caring and loving individuals you will ever meet. Just like a turtle hides in its shell, so does a Cancer born during the Year of the Rabbit. Rabbit adds a certain love of life, but increases Cancer’s likelihood to become depressed or withdrawn.

Cancer
&
Rat

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Rat are represented in Primal Astrology by the Seahorse. Seahorses tend to take more risks than other Cancers, but that is balanced out by the Rat’s excellent judgment and perception. These Cancers are more likely than others to bury their feelings, but they are also more likely to chase after external, unemotional goals. Seahorses are good with money and like to focus on the big picture.

Cancer
&
Rooster

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Rooster are represented in Primal Astrology by the Iguana. Iguanas are among the most self confident of all Cancers, though not all of this confidence is real. Rooster’s influence is mostly in opposition to the natural state of Cancer, which can lead to a lot of conflicting emotions. Iguanas can be adorable one moment and start controversy the next. They love praise but are easily offended if someone doesn’t tell them what they want to hear.

Cancer
&
Sheep

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Sheep are represented in Primal Astrology by the Duck. The Sheep intensifies Cancer’s natural dependability, insecurity, and tendency to be nurturing. It also deepens Cancer’s tendency to spend time alone, lost in thought. Ducks are more artistic than many other Cancers. They are hard working and determined but they also like to reserve time to dream about life’s possibilities. Ducks are very caring in relationships, but often give in to the whims of others, which can cause problems in long-term relationships.

Cancer
&
Snake

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Snake are represented in Primal Astrology by the Snail. Snails are among the most intuitive of all Primal Zodiac signs. Some are even psychic. These individuals can manipulate the emotions of others better than they can regulate their own. The Snake brings a wit and charm to Cancer, but does little to dissuade Cancer’s natural tendency to be a loner. Negative emotions such as anger and jealousy tend to be stronger in Snails than in other Cancers, so they must try extra hard to keep their thoughts in check.

Cancer
&
Tiger

Cancers born during the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Tiger are represented in Primal Astrology by the Vampire Bat. Unpredictability is the key trait of this zodiac combination. Vampire Bats are contradictory in many ways, but they will always stand up for what they believe in. The Tiger brings a newfound confidence and purpose of mind to the often drifting Cancer, though Tiger also intensifies the emotional volatility that Cancer already experiences. This is a loyal and sincere sign who is likely to be very selfless and giving toward others.
